May pictures - Part 1

Kids say the darndest thing...

Jake replied to us about dinner or something- wasn't sure but he said "You better believe it, Sister!" WFT?!?! Jake obviously is picking this up from his teachers or something (it's not us).

Ready for tubes!

This was an early morning for me. 4:30a - fed Max one last time before cut-off time for surgery. Of course, the kid doesn't go back to sleep... Instead he chooses to roll himself all over the bed for the next 30min... My chest, my face, my pillow... Argh!! I finally enlist Hai's help by shoving the kid over to his side. So I get maybe 5 quiet minutes before the alarm goes off. Sigh...

So after getting everything ready to go, Max and I head out at 6a to the surgery center. Of course, I need gas. Ugh! I can make it, I say.... But why... I can Hai saying "why didn't you tell me, I would've gotten it for you, blah blah". Well, if you did it on Sundays like you're supposed to.... But I digress...

So anyways, we make to the center around 6:15a... Then was told the surgery's scheduled for 7:30a. Double Ugh!! Hungry baby, tired mom = no fun.

So we get buzzed to go back to the holding area around 7a. We go over the paperwork, Max gets his vitals checked, I talk with the OR nurse, anesthesiologist, and surgeon. Things move pretty quickly after this. The OR nurse asks if Max has separation issues... If so, she'll give him some "silly juice" to help with the anxiety. I can hear them offering it to the other parents like it was candy but I guess if it eases the transition, why not. I decline of course...

So, alittle before at 7:30a, the OR nurse takes Max away and I just wait. I think I got 5min of shuteye in before they call me into the consultation room and told me that they were done. Alittle fluid back there, but no infection. They gave him alittle pedialyte, checked his vitals again, and we're shoved out the door. Pretty routine, it seems.

Anyways, he did great! No side effects. Back home and resting with dad for the rest of today while I head to work... exhausted, but glad this it's done and over with. Hopefully this will be the beginning of the end of ear infections....

Ear tubes :(

Max is heading to get ear tubes inserted tomorrow morning with Judy at 6:30. I hear it's fast and safe but it's still a little scary when it's your baby. Praying that all goes well tomorrow.

Sleeping thru the night...

So we finally moved his crib out if our room this weekend, and Max started sleeping in his own room on Monday. To say that he was not happy with us would be an understatement. The first night, he cries it out for almost an hour. This wasn't just normal crying... This was "pick me the F$&@ up!! crying" but we didn't give in and he didn't wake up again until 7a. :-) The second night was more like 30 minutes... Woke up about 6:30a. The other nights we could hear him crying alittle but he put himself back to sleep pretty quickly. Now... dare I say it aloud... we're happy to say that he's sleeping through the night! Man, we should've done this months ago!

So, one hiccup in this plan is that he's getting ear tubes put in tomorrow. Hopefully, it won't undo all this work...

Fresh Beat Band

Jake's first concert and he was a dancing machine. It helped that he went with Emily. Here's a video in case you haven't heard of them - they are on NickJr and one of them dancing.

'I like rapping'

I don't know where he gets this stuff but he started to sing his ABC's really loud and he thinks it rapping. Here's a video where he's telling me he like rapping. The video was captured with our new baby monitor that captures video. It's pretty cool, we can watch him when he's trying to fall asleep. He tosses and turn a lot.
