We've entered the final stretch of this marathon and will be seeing the OB every week from here on out. Weekly cervical exams aren't fun, but it'll let us know how I'm progressing. Today, I have dilated 0.5cm and am 50% effaced, so we're on our way!
According to the sonogram performed today, baby weighs 5lbs, 10 oz, has a heart rate of about 133, and I think she said he's about 18in long. If he gains an average of about 0.5lbs a week from now on, he's going to be a big baby... 7.5 to 8lbs!!
We have a C-section sheduled for the morning of February 24th. Hopefully, baby boy can hold out for that long.

Baby Shower Thanks

Week 30
I passed the second gestational diabetes test! Thank goodness!
Another piece of good news is that I haven't gained weight since my last appointment... yah!
The itchy rash on my chest and tummy has been getting better by itself, but Dr. Jacobs actually said that although some rashes are normal due to hormone fluctuations, some rashes are not so innocent and can lead to preterm labor, so now I'm alittle worried. She told me to try Zyrtec or Claritin and use a hydrocortisone cream on the rash. We'll see if it works because nothing else does.

Week 29
Well, I got a call back from the doctor telling me that I failed the gestational diabetes screening test. That means I'm coming back into the office next Wednesday for the 3 hour glucose tolerance test. I can't wait til I get to get up early on my first day off and sit around the doctor's office for three hours without eating or drinking anything. :-(
On an even less interesting note, my tummy itches like crazy! My skin feels bumpy, so it feels more like a rash, not just stretching skin. Man, it's been driving me mad for the last couple days!!! I wake up scratching at it and my tummy's all red and warm. I sure hope it clears up soon, whatever it is, or I'm going to go crazy!
Ah, the joys of pregnancy!

I wake up scratching at it and my tummy's all red and warm. I sure hope it clears up soon, whatever it is, or I'm going to go crazy!

December 8: Week 28
December 8: Baby weighs about 2lbs, 10oz now and measures 25 weeks and 3 days, so he's developing right on schedule.
Glucose tolerance test (one hour) was done today to screen for gestational diabetes. I had to drink this sugary orange drink and then wait an hour to have my blood drawn. Results to follow in about 3 days. She says that 25% of people fail the test and have to come back for a 3 hour test.
This was our last sonogram, since my placenta has moved up (2.5cm to 3.5cm), so no more seeing the baby until the end of February. :-( That's probably a good thing though since I've been on the verge of passing out on the table the last two times. I had to take 4-5 breaks this time. Not sure why, but I get really light-headed and nauseous when I lay down for that procedure.
I'm now experiencing what they consider muscle and ligament pain in the lower abdomen. They say it's from the stretching and redistributing of weight. It hurts when I get up from sitting or laying down and start walking... it kinda feels like cramps. I now have to sit down to put on my pants, which is so depressing, but it hurts to put weight on one leg. It's supposed to get getting better, but it hasn't yet. The doctor says that I might have to wear those ugly maternity belts to help support my tummy if it persists. :-(
Our next appointment is December 19th to determine if we can drive home for Christmas.
Anyways, we've dropped 'Eric' and added 'Carter' and 'Jacob (Jake)' to our list of baby names.
